Who we are

We’re Brilean, founded in 2017 with a slightly different brand and headquartered in North Portugal. We build digital products—including Web & mobile, IoT, AI, blockchain, and MuleSoft middleware—for clients worldwide. We are a boutique studio (11–50 people) of senior professionals and great people that we care about. We all have different skill sets, yet every one of us seems to enjoy execution more than decks and reports.

Reflection is part of the process
Sometimes the most useful line of code comes after a walk, not a meeting. We take our mental health seriously — not with slogans, but with the freedom to step away, recalibrate, and come back sharper. Whether that’s a day in nature, a conversation about mindset, or just knowing when to close the laptop.
Internships that don’t treat you like an intern
Our interns work on the same repos we do. You’ll write production code, push to main, and see your work ship — not in six months, but sometimes that same sprint. You’re not here to “learn the ropes.” You’re here to build with us.
We have built a library
We are a software company, but some best practices can be found in the analog world. We have a physical library in our office that is constantly updated and replenished with books recommended and endorsed by the team. It belongs to all of us.
We celebrate life
One of the highlights of our calendar is Brilean’s birthday celebration. We host it every year, and every year we do something special for the team. Christmas is also a big deal around these parts, and regular meals and get-togethers sometimes don’t even need an occasion.
Charity work matters
We believe in paying it forward. We have done many charitable and social activities and will continue to do so. Our team is proud to be able to directly help local homes and institutions like Lar Santa Teresa and are constantly looking for other ways to contribute.

Sport is a big part of working at Brilean. The team embodies the healthy mind in a healthy body adage and we have been known to run, play football, hike, and always be up for a challenge, even with more radical sports!

As the founder and CEO, he combines strategic leadership with deep technical insight, ensuring that every product reflects innovation and precision. Joel Pinho drives Brilean’s technology strategy with a focus on scalability and performance. Pedro Martins heads the backend team, ensuring that Brilean’s products are built on strong, scalable foundations. Since joining in 2021, he has mastered the art of turning complex architectures into efficient, reliable systems. Your Role

What will you do
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements and propose effective end-to-end technical solutions;
  • Develop, evolve, and maintain web applications using Go on the backend and React on the frontend;
  • Design and implement well-structured, reusable, and performant frontend components;
  • Design, develop, and evolve APIs following best practices (REST/JSON, contracts, versioning);
  • Design and optimize SQL queries and data models to ensure efficient data handling;
  • Integrate frontend applications with backend services and enterprise systems following industry best practices;
  • Create and maintain unit, integration, and (when applicable) end-to-end tests to ensure high-quality deliveries;
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards, security guidelines, and contribute to continuous improvement across the full stack;
  • Perform code reviews, drive refactoring efforts, and support performance optimization on both frontend and backend;
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and support delivery across multiple environments.

Skills We're Looking For
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in software development;
  • Solid experience as a Full Stack Developer, with strong backend skills in Go and frontend experience with React;
  • Good knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend practices;
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases;
  • Knows how to use and integrate AI tools for everyday work (coding, research, productivity, etc.);
  • Solid foundation in API design and consumption;
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and cloud-based delivery pipelines;
  • Experience with microservices architecture;
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices; comfortable using the command line;
  • More than being a developer: being an engineer, capable of bringing solutions to the table, justifying decisions, and evaluating trade-offs;
  • Knowledge of backend design patterns and frontend state management and component design principles;
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field;
  • Proficiency in Portuguese and English. Other languages spoken are a plus.
