Who we are
We’re Brilean, founded in 2017 with a slightly different brand and headquartered in North Portugal. We build digital products—including Web & mobile, IoT, AI, blockchain, and MuleSoft middleware—for clients worldwide. We are a boutique studio (11–50 people) of senior professionals and great people that we care about. We all have different skill sets, yet every one of us seems to enjoy execution more than decks and reports.

Sometimes the most useful line of code comes after a walk, not a meeting. We take our mental health seriously — not with slogans, but with the freedom to step away, recalibrate, and come back sharper. Whether that’s a day in nature, a conversation about mindset, or just knowing when to close the laptop.
Internships that don’t treat you like an intern
Our interns work on the same repos we do. You’ll write production code, push to main, and see your work ship — not in six months, but sometimes that same sprint. You’re not here to “learn the ropes.” You’re here to build with us.
We have built a library
We are a software company, but some best practices can be found in the analog world. We have a physical library in our office that is constantly updated and replenished with books recommended and endorsed by the team. It belongs to all of us.
We celebrate life
One of the highlights of our calendar is Brilean’s birthday celebration. We host it every year, and every year we do something special for the team. Christmas is also a big deal around these parts, and regular meals and get-togethers sometimes don’t even need an occasion.
Charity work matters
We believe in paying it forward. We have done many charitable and social activities and will continue to do so. Our team is proud to be able to directly help local homes and institutions like Lar Santa Teresa and are constantly looking for other ways to contribute.

Sport is a big part of working at Brilean. The team embodies the healthy mind in a healthy body adage and we have been known to run, play football, hike, and always be up for a challenge, even with more radical sports!

Our Present and Future
Duarte Vaz leads Brilean with a vision for transforming complexity into clarity. As the founder and CEO, he combines strategic leadership with deep technical insight, ensuring that every product reflects innovation and precision. His hands-on approach and commitment to excellence have shaped Brilean into a studio where brilliant ideas become lean, impactful solutions.
Joel Pinho drives Brilean’s technology strategy with a focus on scalability and performance. As CTO, he leads the architecture behind our most complex systems, turning ambitious concepts into robust, future-ready solutions. His leadership ensures that technology is not just a tool, but a catalyst for innovation and growth.
Diogo Brito leads Brilean’s product-facing engineering with a strong focus on delivering cohesive, high‑performance digital solutions. From his early days at Brilean as an intern to his current role as Tech Lead, Diogo has combined broad technical expertise with leadership to guide teams and shape technical decisions across projects. His impact is reflected in every product, where usability, performance, and long‑term scalability come together to connect users with innovation.
